Social exclusion can impact people’s personal health and access to information is one of the main factors that can cause it. Therefore, getting awareness and knowledge about oneself is essential to start any inclusive transition toward a more sustainable lifestyle. Good health monitoring and access to information is available across many products for those who can afford it. Ohana came from my passion to enable all of society to have the information and tools they need to change their habits and improve their health for the better. Ohana is an intelligent solution designed to convert unhealthy behaviours into sustainable lifestyle.
Ohana is a personal health monitoring product-service system that uses breath analysis to provide users access to the 14 most important health measures. The physical component consists of a breath analyser sensor module to undertake the test and a separate module with a custom designed application to provide access to the results, set and monitor improvement goals and motivate changing habits. To take a test a user breathes into the Ohana analyser, the breath is analysed together with the heart rate to calculate the results. These are presented in a clear and simple manner, including a range, to visualise where the results lay and where improvements are needed. Getting knowledge, awareness and self-reflection are the key values of this project. Ohana helps to improve health by allowing users to set practical goals that will eventually turn into lifelong healthy habits. The ease of use allows regular tracking of improved health to further motivate change.
