A Health Treatment Toy

‘CAN YOU SURVIVE?’ is a children’s board game that takes the child on a journey around the hospital. It takes them on the same journey as they would when they go into hospital, this helps the child to become familiar and less nervous or anxious towards their hospital visit and will help in the child’s recovery as well.

Through this project research I found out that most health treatment toys that already exist are catered towards helping the child to understand their emotions about the event or in general. There were not any to help the child understand the process of what they are going to go through. This will help with any anxiousness or stress that the child will have towards the trip into hospital.

This game is based around the way different illnesses and injuries are treated throughout a hospital. Whether that is going to the doctors first, or straight to A&E this game has it covered. This game aims to help children and adults understand what happens to them in the hospital, whether that is knowing the route they would take, finding out what happens in each room and the staff they will meet throughout their stay. This game was designed to help ease hospital nerves by allowing the child to understand what they are about to or have recently gone through in the hospital. It also helps the child understand what is going to happen to their parent, family member or friends.
